I like how this is in a list format with option for additional information on different post. Sometimes, I just like to see the simple outline before digging into the details.
This is an outline indeed. I have shared other posts with details on each day.
How beautiful is Laos? This is definitely somewhere I’d like to go. Thank you for sharing your itinerary.
Yes, it’s a gem in the South-East Asia.
Thanks Shreya for this curated itinerary. We are actually planning a trip to Laos in December and this comes just at the right time. Will visit the detailed guides for my planning.
Laos in December would be fun. Do not miss Vang Vieng.
This is nicely written, it gives you an idea on what it might cost you, of course, some alterations could always be substituted, all in all, really nice written, I will check out the whole itinerary
Yes, thanks.
Shreya, I like how you always break down the expenses in your posts, it’s really helpful to understand how much one needs to budget for a particular trip. Laos (and Cambodia as well as Vietnam) are three Asian countries that I really want to visit soon. Luang Prabang obviously is on the list, thanks for the recommendations on things to do there. Will have to come back for more details when I have my rough plan in place.
Welcome, anytime Medha!
Love the outline idea! It really makes your post organized for planning a trip. These buildings are so beautiful. I especially like the Royal Palace of Luang Prabang and the Chappelle Rouge – amazing mosaics.
Glad you liked it.
I have yet to visit Laos and after reading your post, it has definitely moved higher on our bucket list. I really appreciate the detailed itinerary you’ve included in this post as it certainly helps a first time visitor, like us, plan a memorable visit. Appreciate the expense related information too that will help out with trip planning.
You must visit Laos, Aditi.
Hello Shreya, thanks for sharing your 3 days lao itinerary with estimated expenses. Quick question, how realistic is it to complete all of the activities in a short amount of time? I feel like I end up going on a vacation and come back exhausted. Do you have any recommendations on estimated time to spend in each place?
You should spend at least 3 days in Luang Prabang, and 2 days in Vientiane. Add 2 more days in Vang Vieng.
I am hoping that I will be able to combine Laos with Vietnam and Cambodia. Thanks for this guide, I will try to explore these countries in one go
You would need 2 weeks then. Check out http://www.travelloverepeat.com for the best itineraries of SE Asia.
I visited Laos on multiple occasions and I think it’s the most underrated country in SE Asia. I have to say, I’m impressed how much you covered in just three days. I hope you get the chance to visit again and stay a bit longer though Thank you for this lovely read and keep up the great work
Though I highly suggest to spend a week in Laos.
One of my blogger friends had a long stay in Laos, and Luang Prabang is one of his favorite places. The temples are really stunning. And he said that the food—although a bit strange for his taste—is quite good. We plan to have an SEA trip later this year, and Laos is in our itinerary. We will see if we could include this place as it takes a day of travel. I wonder if we can shorten it so that it would be 1/2 a day of traveling so we could have more time in exploring the city.
I would highly recommend anyone to stay at least 3 days in Luang Prabang.
It’s no secret, Luang Prabang is one of my favourite places in SE Asia. Wonderful architecture, impressive cultural and historical heritage, sublime nature …. romantic …. that’s all Luang Prabang for me and I can’t wait to go back.
3 days in Luang Prabang and Vientiane are ok. But if you ask me, i would say 3 days in Luang Prabang and 3 days in Vientiane alone. But, overall you have made a good roundup of both places!
You are absolutely right, Milijana, it’s unfair to stay just a night there. You need at least 3 days in each of the places.
I am still waiting to tick Laos off my bucketlist. And this seems like such a good itinerary for Laos for 3 days. I would love to see both Luang Prabang and Vientiane. Though Luang Prabang is my favorite. So much culture, history, and nature – all in the same place.
Exactly, Soumya.
Three days in Laos sounds like a bit of a whirlwind. I love that place, we were there for a month a few years ago. One of my favourite parts of Asia. I particularly liked Luang Prabang, could stay there for ages.
Same here, I can spend months there.
I like your way of putting all the details together with all useful tips. It is great to go for Laos and see all those beautiful attractions, especially that waterfalls. I would also love to visit Luang Prabang Night Market.
The waterfalls is must.
