Pure Bliss in Koh Tao

Central Thailand and Gulf of Thailand in 9 Days – Day 5

One of my favorite islands in Thailand till date is Koh Tao, meaning Turtle Island – it is a paradise for snorkeling and scuba-diving and is also listed as one of the top destinations for diving in South-East Asia because of its crystal clear water and variation in marine life. This is going to be my second visit to Koh Tao and I am all excited and geared up for it.

Highlights of the Day

  • Koh Samui to Koh Tao by Lomprayah Ferry
  • Check in at Koh Tao Beach Club
  • Sunset at Koh Tao
  • Sairee Village

Lomprayah Ferry

When you are in Koh Samui and availing the service of Lomprayah ferry to or from Koh Samui, make sure that you contact them a day before if you want free drop or pick-up as they offer the same only in Koh Samui.

The only disadvantage is that they pick up very early to the scheduled departure time. But still, it is a free pick-up!

We had finished a fruitarian breakfast at the restaurant of Dream Field Resort and our ferry was at 12.30 PM, so we got picked up by an aircon minivan at 11 AM. We finished grabbing some lunch at a restaurant at the pier before taking the ferry.

The ferry had all amenities like aircon, cafeteria, TVs, and washroom, and seemed to be better than Seatran as it is smaller, more speedy, and less crowd. The ferry reached Koh Tao pier at 2 PM.

The Beach Club, Koh Tao

We first decided to stay at Koh Tao Regal Resort which was very close to the pier, at Mae Haad Bay, yet has a beautiful beach and ocean view from the rooms. But the same owner has come up with a new property called “The Beach Club” just next to Regal Resort and have better beachfront rooms.

The Beach Club is a new property, which has a private beach, an outdoor pool, poolview and beachfront rooms, and also a beachfront restaurant

We got the Deluxe VIP Bungalow that comes with an outdoor hot tub spa. Its Thai-style design make The Beach Club unique on the island
Inside the bungalow at The Beach Club, Koh Tao
The bungalow was a combination of the traditional and the modern. All rooms are available with full air conditioning, satellite TV and a refridgerator

The bathrooms are made by cutting the rocky areas and creates an adventurous ambiance inside

Both the bungalows have a shared outdoor hot tub spa – the best part of our stay

Sunset at Koh Tao

After spending a good time at the beach, hot tub spa, and finally at the shower, all of us got ready to explore my favorite walking street at Sairee village which is like a km away.

At Koh Tao, experiencing sunset over the beach is a treat itself.

While we were walking to the Sairee village, we could click few extremely beautiful pictures of sunset.

We had our dinner at a beachside restaurant enjoying the sunset.

On the way back, we found the Sairee village has lit up with so many shops, restaurants, bars, and loud music. It was nice to walk down to our hotel crossing all those colors of the village. It was a lively experience.

  8. Koh Tao looks like a dream to visit! The sunset was a beautiful collection of colors and didn’t leave the eyes wanting. I had no idea it meant turtle island, which is super cute. That bathroom is totally awesome. I love the ruggedness and outdoorsy feel to it. Definitely not something you see every day!

  9. What I wouldn’t give to be here right now!! The weather in Italy is turning into fall, and escaping to Koh Tao sounds perfect. I never made it here during my last trip to Thailand, and after reading your post, I’m adding it to the list for when I return. The beachouse sounds wonderful and those sunsets… 🙂

  10. Like everyone else it seems, I WANT THAT BATHROOM! I haven’t gotten around to traveling to Thailand yet, but since Koh Samui has been on my list, I think Koh Tao needs to be right there with it! The Beach Club clearly lives up to it’s name. Luxurious and beachy. Plus, a hot tub on the beach?? Sign me up!

  14. You got me in the first few lines itself. I so want to experience Diving in the waters surrounding KohTao. And that resort looks so amazing and it’s commendable to see that you were picked up by an electric tram rather than a traditional diesel vehicle. And those sunsets are just ?
