Looks like a blast to visit Iceland, but during winter time would be scary for me coming from a very warm place. It is defintinitely on my bucket list of places to visit.
Where are you from?
We visited Iceland in the summer but always wondered what it would be like in the winter. Good to know that even with colder weather you got to see so much. And got to enjoy some typical winter activities. I always find it fun to experience a holiday in a different country and see the difference in traditions. Definitely want to plan a winter visit at a good time to see the Northern Lights.
Linda, I wanna visit Iceland during summers now.
Southern Iceland is breathtaking! There are just so many fantastic destinations to be seen here. With glaciers, geysers, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, it’s no surprise that this incredible location has become increasingly popular. This country has already been included in my list of must-see destinations.
Iceland is another planet!
Iceland is awesome. I’m so stoked that you managed to do such an extensive trip in 10 days. That’s an impressive itinerary in an impressive budget. Glad that you even managed to see the Aurora Borealis within that time frame. Whale-watching, Icelanding horses, hot spring – you’ve checked all the boxes. Excellent.
I absolutely don’t encourage such extensive trips. In fact I always wish to laze around and indulge in a place for a day or two, but due to budget and curiosity to check all places, I do rush.
Saving this for reference because my husband and I definitely want to go to Iceland. Thank you for the detailed itinerary and a breakdown of expenses. I’m glad to see you can fit in so much in ten days! Tell me, what time of year did you go? And when is the best time to see Northern Lights?
I went during December, and Northern Lights is best enjoyed from October to February.
You had such a fantastic winter tour in Iceland. I saw all these places during a road trip in summer, and I dream of coming back in winter. Therefore, I would like to use your suggestions. Because a winter trip to Iceland requires preparation. Your photos are amazing. It’s great that you got to see the aurora borealis. This is the main reason why I want to go for winter in Iceland. I also like the idea of a snowmobile trip. And on my dream list, there’s an explore Crystal Ice Cave. Incredible adventure!
I dream of heading to Iceland during summers.
I have always thought Iceland in winters would be too cold for comfort. But while enjoying Iceland through your eyes it seems such a great trip and one worth considering. The fact that seeing Aurora Borealis is possible during that time is the added bonus as it has truly been one of my dream sight to experience.
The interesting part is that when you are back indoors, it’s warm and comfortable, because of the amenities of course. That’s something I enjoy about European winters.
I never visited Iceland and want to go for sure. It is a dream place for me and I curated all trip itineraries of this place. Really loved reading your day wise details and how to cover all places in southern part. Saving it for my Iceland trip for sure. Thanks much for this detailed guide.
