Night in Baiyoke Sky Hotel

Central Thailand and Gulf of Thailand in 9 Days – Day 8

Baiyoke Sky Hotel is the tallest building of Thailand, and it is also the most scenic hotel in Bangkok offering the dynamic highest views of the city from its 84th revolving floor. It is located at the heart of downtown Bangkok surrounded by bustling markets, like Pratunam market. Staying at the hotel in one of the rooms of space zone for at least one night is an experience by itself.

Highlights of the Day

Back to Bangkok

The overnight train from Chumphon to Bangkok reached Hua Lamphong train station at around 9 AM.

Hua Lamphong Train Station is the main station of Bangkok from where all the trains depart and connect to other parts of Thailand and also further down to Malaysia

We took a taxi to Baiyoke Sky Hotel – where I had already made a reservation through the hotel website.

Even we have reached earlier than check-in time, still the receptionist arranged available rooms for us, and we could check in ahead of time.

Baiyoke Sky Hotel

The hotel is divided into three zones: Standard Zone (22nd-45th floors), Sky Zone (46th-63rd floors), and Space Zone (64th-74th floors). There are superior rooms, deluxe rooms, junior suites, superior suites, and presidential suites as well.

We got a 20-min foot massage voucher for free when we checked in.

I would advise you to stay in any room at the space zone because you should experience staying at such height at least once if you have not experienced similar thing before, or if you are choosing to stay in the space zone, then choose the superior suite.

Lunch at Food Republic

Baiyoke Sky Hotel offers a free shuttle service daily every hour from 10 AM to 7 PM that goes to Siam Skytrain (BTS) via the nearest Airport Rail Link at Ratchaprarop and BTS skytrain stops at Phaya Thai and Ratchathewi.

There is another free shuttle service that goes to Chatuchak Weekend Market at 11 AM only on Saturday and Sunday.

We took the free shuttle at 12 PM to go to Siam Center. It is one of the top shopping malls in Siam Square Shopping District and also of Bangkok. You will find many renowned brands in Siam Center. Though my aim of coming here is to have brunch at the food court of the mall, named Food Republic – it has cuisines from almost all Asian and few Western countries.

Among many delicious Thai foods available at Food Republic, Siam Center, do not miss out to try the most delicious Tom Yum soup – traditional spicy Thai soup

Shopping at Pratunam Market

After brunch, we took a taxi to one of the major market districts in Bangkok – no, it is not Chatuchak Weekend Market, but it is Pratunam Market.

I am really sorry as I did not click any pictures of Pratunam Market.

Pratunam Market includes shopping complexes and maze of alleys with thousands of tiny shops selling fashion wear and accessories in wholesale, sometimes at cheaper prices than Chatuchak Weekend Market.

My favorite is the City Complex – a fashionable shopping mall mostly for females – and Platinum Mall on the opposite of that – a fashionable mall both for men and women.

There are a lot of street food in Pratunam market and this being the last evening of the trip, I did not want to miss out tasting few street delicacies of Thailand as dinner.

Exploring Baiyoke Sky Hotel

After a lot of shopping, we got back to the hotel by feet as it is in walking distance from Pratunam Market.

There are a lot many things to explore in the hotel itself:

  • You can try the tasty tropical fresh fruits at Fruit Court on 18th floor
  • You can also play some golf at Baiyoke Golf Range, the highest open-air golf range in Thailand, decorated in country style on 18th floor
  • Enjoy sun-bath, physical exercise, gymming or open-air swimming on 20th floor
  • Relax and rejuvenate with the traditional Thai and international massages on 20th floor
  • Experience the one and only highest floating market in Thailand – it is a replica of the real one by the river – on 75th floor
  • Do not miss out the various entertainment on 76th and 78th floors
  • Take the highest transparent elevator in Thailand on ground floor and 77th floors
  • You can enjoy the beautiful sunrise on 76th and 78th floors
  • You can dine at the highest open-air restaurant in Thailand with four sky-box outdoor balconies, on 81st floor
  • Enjoy drinks, loud music, and party at Roof-Top Bar at night on 83rd floor
  • It is a must to visit the top of the building to see the full view of Bangkok City from the revolving floor on 84th floor

After exploring so many floors of the tallest building of this country, all we needed is a good amount of sleep in one of the most comfortable beds of our trip.

Central Thailand and Gulf of Thailand in 9 Days – Day 9

As the end of the day trip approaches, I started feeling really sad, and I can instantly make myself happier by planning another trip soon. It has always been like that!

Highlights of the Day

  • Buffet Breakfast at Baiyoke Sky Hotel
  • Back to Home Country

Breakfast at Baiyoke Sky Hotel

The highest international breakfast buffet in town takes place in Bangkok Sky Restaurant located on 76th and 78th floors of Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

Make sure you reach there on time as they start wrapping up by 10 AM. The breakfast time is 6 AM to 10 AM.

The breakfast buffet caters specialty Japanese, Thai, Indian, European, Chinese, and Vietnamese food.

The beautiful decor right next to the glass windows that offers you beautiful morning view of the city while having breakfast is a memorable experience. Even the service is impeccable – especially the service at the live counters where the chef would make your food exactly the way you like it.

Adios

Our flight to Kolkata was at 3.45 PM – even I was flying back to my home country – from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. It is a vast airport that also needs time for immigration and passport control, so it is better to leave ahead of time from the hotel.

Make sure you keep enough time for your duty-free shopping at the airport as the duty-free section in Suvarnabhumi is really big and has a great variety of products.

We checked out at around 12 PM and a taxi took us to the airport within one and half hour – it was 30 km away from the hotel. We picked up few snacks at the airport as the breakfast was way too heavier than expected, so there was no space in stomach for a proper lunch.

Goodbye!

  1. I love when places let you check-in early! Especially when you have luggage. The names of their zones are cute haha Space and Sky zones would definitely make you feel cooler staying in those zones. The foot massage would also be so nice. I remember Thailand being one of those trips where my feet were really sore from exploring all day.

  2. I am not fan of heights whatsoever but I reckon I would brave it just so stay in the suite in the Sky Zone. Man that view is one of a kind! Maybe I’ll sit as far back as possible but still enjoy the scenery. Especially at night in the bar with those neon lit high bar tables. Love food Republic by the way. So much variety to choose from! So handy to have that shuttle form the hotel to cart you around cause I hate paying for a taxi in Bangkok only to watch the meter tick away in traffic jam. Sounds like you guys had a great time!

    1. I am now fascinated by this hotel, would really love to stay here and enjoy at height. Since thailand is on my list, I should make Baiyoke sky hotel happen. Nice write up and insight.

  3. As Bangkok is a city of high rises, therefore choosing this hotel is a wise option. Selecting space zone would be my choice too as watching all the city in day and night would be interesting. Having early morning sunrise view from 76th floors adds another brownie point to hotel. Also breakfast on top with lovely views is also superb. This hotel gives good services like complimentary foot-massage and free shuttle services to famous points. Thanks for sharing wonderful stay with many convincing features.

  4. What a wonderful feeling to read this post. My 6-year-old is crazy about skyscrapers. This time in Bangkok, we made a trip to the Maha Nakhon tower and did the sky walk. That was simply amazing. It must have been even more exciting to be in a building this high and watch those views. My son would love staying here. Will make it a point to check this out the next time we are there.

The hotel looks amazing – I did not know that it was the tallest! I also like how they offer a complimentary foot massage and free shuttle services. Chatuchuk is a must for me if I am in Bangkok on a weekend. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I have visited Bangkok several times and tried many hotels including the Biyoke towers and is a great place to stay in the city for views. The pratunam market does have its plus but just makes it a bit over crowded but again you are in Bangkok so it is the buzz. The rooms look clean and the facilities are great as well. The bar serves some great food and a cocktail while you soak in the views . Overall a great place to stay and one I would recommended and agree with your post.

  7. Baiyoke Sky hotel sounds perfect for me. My eyes widened as I saw “free shuttle” thats my key filter at booking.com 🙂 – I wonder if I would be afraid when staying at a high floor given my fear of heights – I especially like that you summed up the expenses at the end.

  8. What an amazing experience to stay here! Would love to sleep in the space zone someday! Those views at breakfast wow!! Hoping to visit Bangkok next year will definitely try and stay at this fabulous hotel!
